Academic Japanese for International Students: Listening Comprehension (Intermediate)
This interesting textbook has been developed to help N3 to N1 students with the listening skills they need for presentations and lectures at Japanese universities. As well as designed to improve listening comprehension ability, the book also has exercises to build skills needed to grasp the general theme of a lecture or presentation, and also to be able to summarize back what the student has just listened to. There are 15 units, each with a completely different topic, such as Mt. Fuji, Christianity in Japan, the diet of gorillas, hot springs, and traditional Japanese musical instruments — something for everyone, whether you are interested in natural sciences or Japanese history and culture. Each unit has a main listening and then a series of different style questions, from multiple choice to 150-to-200-character paragraph writing. There is an audio CD with the listening activities and a separate manual in the back that contains all the listening scripts and an answer key. There are also links included to additional online material and resources for each unit. This is a great book for improving listening skills and especially recommended if you are studying at a university in Japan.
